John performed in a variety of bands from the mid-1960's through the 1980's (The Runaways, The Plague (aka The Renegades in 1967), and Firethorn, to name a few).
While in Germany, John had the privilege to work with a rock band called The Smiles. John periodically performed with the group and wrote for the group who released Baby Nur Du (translated into German) and My Love is Gone as a single.
In 2017 John re-established contact with his musical buddy and co-composer from Germany, Herbert Reiner. Together, through long-distance technology, they continued to write songs and enjoy each other's company until Herbert's untimely passing in November 2019.
Musically, John is a member of BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) and the Minnesota Songwriters Association.
Today John enjoys communicating with former bandmates and musician friends such as Greg Horner, Ralph Watters, Joe Reino, and Tom Germaine. (Various band photos and music samples can be found using the PhotoCenter and Music Samples links.)
